Hünxe. Sometimes you get a ride to Ohligers Heide in 30 minutes, sometimes you wait 3 hours before accepting a ride into the HH'ers hell that is Ruhrpot. Today was the latter. Don't be like me. It's (at least) Ohligers Heide or nothing.―Anonymous

A57 Alpen, direction Nijmegen/Kleve. Much local traffic, try sign "Kleve" to get out relatively quick. From ramp 3 "Weeze" on there is much traffic for Nijmegen and further.―Anonymous

Stop here if you want to cross the Ruhrgebiet, and try to get a direct ride across. On the A3 that means at least to Köln. I got a ride there after some 20 minutes, but the guy eventually took me all the way to Wiesbaden after his scheduled work meeting close to Köln had been cancelled.―Maxim1110

I met an absolute gentlemen offering to take me to north-west Italy across a two-day journey. While I was heading in a different direction, I did manage to head down to Karlsruhe with him. Great spot! Thanks J.!―AOD

Waited around 30-45 minutes with a sign which read 'Italy'. Created a lot of laughs, and eventually picked up a ride offering to take me to a raststätte along my preferred highway.Stood at the beginning of the onramp. There is also a traffic light onto it, which increases the amount of time people can see you. Also enough space for a car to stop.

The guy at the tank station asked us not to stand at the front which is not ideal. Also not a lot of cars because the tank station is in the Netherlands and the gas prices are higher. And people where very blunt and rude here. Would not recommend―Nienke
