Stand right beside the traffic light so people can see you from the car when the light is red(Make yourself bigger). As cars go fast here.Drivers can easily pullover at the bus stop, which is right ahead of traffic stop.

Traffic mostly local. Held up a sign to Poland and all drivers shrugged that they're not going there. But at 5PM on a wednesday it didn't take long until I got a car towards the border. Gas station employees gave me a piece of cardboard for the sign and were very nice. :)―alice

DONT go too late we are 2 guys we started at 1700 with a hamburg sign it was mostly family cars but eventually we got picked up, it was also quite a long walk to the gas station, we took a train to heligensee and walked 6 kilometers. I guess it is a bit tricky here. In theory there is enough traffic and also quite a lot of space for even big cars to stop. However, they have to stop on the bike lane, which is not ideal. The gas station were completely dead on Saturday morning, so we hitchhiked by the traffic lights and eventually got ride behind Dresden.―Anonymous

Really quite a fair spot to get to east. A lot of traffic goes to the highway 12. The downside is that the cars have to drive all the way into the gas station to stop for you so definitely get a sign there.―matt
