Wanted to get on to A61. Tried it during rush hour. There are some people who take that route every day, for example to Koblenz. Not perfect to stop for a car.

Good, direct spot to leave Germany. Just took a bit of time

Hitched from the Eastbound shell. Took only a short time for a lift to Köln. Our driver was kind enough to drop us at the front door of our friends house

Really hard to get anywhere else than the airport - finally someone took me to St Augustine from where I caught a hitch onto the highway

Not a lot of activity 23:30 on a wednesday. Got picked up by a man going to Köln though!

This was a good spot for the Aachen direction. You can be clearly seen, and the cars are slow from the crossroad. They can also easily stop at the bus station.

Not the greatest spot. I needed to go in the Aachen direction, but I just needed to get on the main roads, so after a few minutes, I realized I just needed to get out of here, and Librar is fine.

A guy picked me up here and brought me maybe a few kilometers, which helped and definitely boosted my struggling morale.

I asked around and got a car to Aachen, although I got off at Köln. There is an okay amount of traffic.

Easy spot on the car parking near highway in direction of Germany close to the airport.

There were no trains or buses to Cologne, the earliest would be in 4 hours, but I am impatient af. Saw it on Google map, came here, approached a truck with German plate numbers and got a direct ride to Cologne. Ez

Tried going in the direction of Aachen. But had no luck. Maybe it was because it was a sunday. Its probably better to take a bus and a train to the first gas station in the Aachen direction, its a short walk from the train station.

Not that much traffic, but it was a sunday. Still got a lift to Aachen very quick. Good spot, lots of trucks, and a few belgian cars.

Stood almost at the end, lots of trucks and cars coming through. The cars usually go to Köln and not further.

May favourite starting spot to get out of the area to the Netherlands/Belgium/France. So far has worked out for me fairly quickly every single time.
This review is super late, but I was there in May in the afternoon and found folks going my direction in half an hour by asking around. It only took half an hour because they wanted to finish their meal (which, totally fair.) I think the finding itself only took about 10 minutes.

Not too many cars, but lucky to get a ride to the next gas station as that guy was heading to Essen.
