Not the busiest stop but there is a Starbucks and small restaurant there. Another person tried to get into Nürnberg but struggled a lot since most people who go there don’t stop right before. A lot of people were going towards Munich or to the west of Austria. I found a super sweet older lady who was going to Slovenia and she even dropped me off at the train station in Wels.

I took the train to weiskirchen and walked to this stop due to its great ratings. And it lived up to it. I was there on a Tuesday around midday and only asked maybe 6 people until I found a person with an Austrian plate (I tried to go to Vienna) and the person was heading to Nürnberg and dropped me off at a gas station before entering the city. There was quite a few people from the Netherlands who also drove to Austria but didn’t have any space left. One person also offered to take me to Würzburg. If I’m in the area I will definitely come back to this spot to cover greater distances.

Heading towards Germany. Was going around with a sign for DE around all the trucks but no one was going or they were staying for the night there. I moved to this spot and within 2 minutes got a ride in a Porsche to Nuremberg going 285km/h on the autobahn!

If you’re trynna go East towards Amberg and the Bahnhofs well you’re gonna have a bad time. Many people stopped although there’s no space but nobody was going towards CZ or east. Don’t bother coming here. I got dropped here after 2 women confused east with west and gave me a ride in the opposite direction hahahh

To be honest, not that great spot for Nürnberg direction, all of the truck go to Frankfurt, but it you are lucky, you can still get really nice hitch.

after while lady and man took us, they went to Frankfurt, but we missed our south-west direction before Nürnberg due to lack of gas stations, so we were told to continue to Frankfurt, we decided to get drop at Würzburg with hope of sombody going left for A81 (bad idea, should go Frankfurt with them)

Stood there with a sign West/DE, boy and a girl, it was raining and there wasn't much traffic. But after maybe 60 minutes some german guy took us on highway A3. It was Friday before noon.

Got a direct ride to Nurnberg after waiting 30 minutes or so.

Usually my go to stop, easy to go south to Freiburg or north to Heidelberg.

Fourth longest ride ever, via the old YU & BG. Three days. Five stars only because of the length.

Raststätte Aurach Süd

(experience on a Friday night)

EAST:
the perfect place to hitchhike to Romania or the Czech Republic (about 2/3 going that way)

SOUTH:
Munich is also good (about 1/4 of all cars going that way)

NORTH:
not a good place (2 cars in 3 hours)

It is a really frequent and amazing spot. It was easy to find a ride towards Austria [direction Regensburg and Passau]. I got here by walking/hitchhiking from Fürth through Hüttendorf and Kriegenbrunn small villages, and in the end I crossed this magic forest, and then just walked into the resting area. Good luck!

2 of us waited for about 2 hours to get a lift towards the Czech Republic- we got very lucky. It was not a good spot, not much traffic, not many cars going that way. (It was Thursday evening, 5-7pm)

I have different experience. We stand there 3 hours and nobody to Czech Republic. Everyone only to München and also lot of people to Berlin.
