Always ask on the ferry, it's likely you can find a car going for a very long journey. I got lucky and found a car going directly to Munich. Our ferry was going from Bastia to Livorno.

I did ask 3 people everyone was willing to give a ride but the first 2 went of a few km later, so I went with the third one. I was on his ride till Berlin

But it was difficult to get there. I walked from S Bahn Eching (it took me nearly 1 hour)

We wanted to hitchhike to Berlin. Many people riding in different direction. Non the less we 2 got a ride to Nürnberg after some Time which is very helpful. No Ants in Juli

Amazing spot going north. So many cars at an alright speed. To get here you need to go through the bushes from the path until you poke out in front of the traffic, but there is an unused lane that gives drivers plenty space to pull over and makes it safe for you to stand. Cops even drove by and didnt care.

Amazing spot, cars are going super slow, plenty space to pull over. Its the most busy crossing for cars going towards munich, even though it seems like the crossing at Höchst might attract more traffic. But that isnt the case according to a local. He even took me across the border just to get me here

First one we asked took us to Cologne. Very busy restaurant and gas station with a lot of options

There is a new tunnel that bypasses Oberau. As a result, hardly any cars drive through the village anymore.

Incredible spot, I took 15 minutes writing my sign, and a car stopped in 30 seconds.

Most people are busy and don’t want to take you, but there’s many people in general, and you can stand in front of the service station so it’s possible to signal to drivers and ask people coming out of the station

Very good gas station for hitchhiking. We were standing with a sign (CZ written on it) at the gas station exit. We managed to stop someone who was going directly to Prague!

Not a good spot, someone took us eventually but it wasn’t because this is a good spot… But its better than the one on the other side of the road…

I did not wait long until a family in a van picked me up. I wanted to go to Frankfurt/cologne area but they took me along the way to Augsburg

We got here on Friday evening at 18:30. There were not so many cars but most people were very nice and either didn’t have the space or went somewhere else. We waited until 22:30 and then stayed the night at the entrance of the hotel on the other side. When we got back in the morning around 6, Not even 2 minutes after getting there, a nice lady in a van picked us up from the highway. So the earlier you get there the better your chances are.

Just went to the gas station. We (2 guys) didn’t even have to take our sign out, we got a ride to Munich with the 3rd car we asked. I guess quite lucky, but the spot looks really good anyways.
