A lot of cars with friendly people. Got a ride down the A4 and a5 in the direction of Frankfurt after 45 minutes

I was desperate because it was really cold and windy and rainy. Like the worst weather ever to hitchhike. I asked a bit around with no success but still had ok feedbacks. Kicked out of the MacDonald (fair enough) decided to use thumb and sign "A4 West" and got a lift to Francfort. In my case I will be dropped at the gas station Reinhardshain Nord to go to Köln and Belgium. Thanks Heike!

Waited a long time in the cold and the wind. However it was Sunday so not a lot of traffic and a lot of families with full cars. Taken by Mani to Erfurt gas station :)

Didn't wait long because there are enough men to ask. I don't like to ask men. But wanted to get out of there.
For women I would not advice going here, especially if you're like me, and you are cautious. It was sketcy, most of the time there were 0-2 cars, and I was afraid to end up there with only a sketcy man and noone else. I Would always avoid going there again.
For men it's likely a great spot and I think you will easily find a ride, they come and go every few minutes.

I waited long. I also didn't really think about the ikea being closed early in the morning, so I just waited till it opened, I did have a nice ikea breakfast, though. Noone needed to go to the autobahn. Also, everyones cars were packed with furniture. It felt like everyone in ikea new I was there and everyone felt bad for me still being there after they did their shopping.

Extra info for women/flintas:
Out of pity, a couple said they would take me to the autobahn, but not a gas station, but the first raststätte. I shouldn't have accepted, because there weren't many people at the raststätte, and there were only men, and it was a bit sketcy and I was afraid I would end up being there with just one man and noone else. Therefore it felt safest to fairly quickly ask a guy to bring me to the next gas station, even though I am normally very picky whom I ride with. Was not prepared to end up in that situation, so I learned a lesson.

Gas Station Eichelborn: perfect spot for either going to Dresden (east) or Frankfurt (west), never waited longer than 30 mins

best spot to go to a9 (north/south), because most people going a9 stop here instead of hermsdorf (directly at the autobahnkreuz).

Good for going East. A bit tricky cause after the gas station there is another restaurant with more people! Got a ride standing at the end.

At sunday after a long weekend very crowdy. I could have got a lift to Berlin in about 5min (One third of all cars were from Berlin and I was even asked by people before I could ask). To Nossen it was a bit more difficult, but still 15-20 min.

the gas station is perfect for getting onto Weimar if you've been dropped off at the highway exit.

The bus stop is a good place to go into both directions on the A4. I waited for ~40 minutes to get a direct lift to Dresden.

Okay to get eastwards (many cars but difficult to stop for you).

Good place. If you can stand the sun, go direct to the crossing, so the people can see you. The best thing about this Hitch-spot: there is a crocodile holding his thumb up ;)
