Was dropped there at 8 PM on a Friday and it was pretty empty. Had to ask around and seemed most people were going North to the ferry at Puttgarden. Scored a ride all the way to Copenhagen, and would probably be better during the day.The worker there even gave me a free coffee!

As others have said great spot. Lots of cars and they room to pull over, though they do move quite fast. Got a ride to a filling station just North of Lubeck. Sign would be helpful as I believe many drivers are heading to Berlin as well.

a possible relais on the way to sweden or denmark (copenhagen or roskilde); the 'tank und rastanlage neustädter bucht', there is only few cars stopping BUT those who stop will NOT be locals/commuters (it is more expensive to fuel your car at a gasstation on the autobahn than in a town). you can also change sides on "A 1" north/south by walking through the tunnel 200 meters south of the rest area, just follow the asphalted road along the autobahn.

As said before not very busy especially not on a morning, but never the less the best stop after Lübeck if your driver is not going all the way up north to the ferry. Asked a friendly trucker who got me to Puttgarden.

I got dropped there at 15.00 a weekday. Not many cars, maybe 35-45 during the hour I waited. Several locals going only to Neustadt and many fully packed tourist cars. Some trucks come through here and finally a truck picked me up to Malmö.

Most of the cars go to Puttgarden and you should be able to find a car.

You might strike luck with somebody going towards Rostock or Hamburg, traffic is very light, though, and mostly local.

Never stop there at night. There is like 2 cars per hour stopping. I waited 12 hours one night, and at daytime between 1 and 2 hours.

Mostly locals and very little traffic. With a bit of luck you find somebody going to Hamburg. If you are coming from Puttgarden and are heading further south its probably better to get off in the first gas station after the ferry (Großenbrode) or change cars before/on the ferry than standing here. Probably the worst motorway resting area I ever experienced in Germany.

Gas station called Neubucher Stadt, on the way to Lubeck. The gas station looks all right, there are a few trucks, but no one travels further than Lubeck. We spent there around 15 hours and in total, there were maybe 50 cars that stopped, almost all of them locals. Ended up begging for a lift to Lubeck and then hitchhiking on the ramp in Lubeck to continue to Hamburg.

Took us 5min to get to Kopenhagen from here. Fairly small gas station, but decent traffic.
Probably worth it to ask around as most are heading to Puttgarden from here
