Many cars going. Not the best space to stop but ok.

DONT go too late we are 2 guys we started at 1700 with a hamburg sign it was mostly family cars but eventually we got picked up, it was also quite a long walk to the gas station, we took a train to heligensee and walked 6 kilometers. But if you are trying to get to hamburg or north try at 1200

Two guys hitchhiking. We hitchhiked here from Wannsee to Potsdam intending to head southwest, either to Leipzig or Magdeburg. We hiked from here since there was construction at the on ramp to the autobahn in Nikolasse. We were picked up quite quickly and there’s a busstop + handicapparking where the drivers can pick you up.

Please note that if you just want to get to Potsdam you can take the S-bahn from Berlin instead.

A very good place for drivers to notice you with ample space to pull over. We were hitchhiking two people toward Berlin, with a clear sign, and were picked up within 15 minutes. The driver brought us all the way to our destination. Would recommend!

This is a quite big stop with a petrol station an a big parking lot. First I asked some people at the parking lot which was not really sucsessful. There were not too much cars and I decided to go to the petrol station. The peolpe drove in various directions and after a while of asking I saw a man filling his car with LPG. I've never seen this before and talked to him. Although he said he smokes in his car I got a lift to Herzsprung near Wittstock.

I arrived here by bus, because the highway were under construction at Hohenzollern and Berlin-Westend. As I said I want to Hamburg beforehand, a older man told me that this place would be better than those closer to the center of Berlin. After a while I had to realize that this wasn't the best choice, because the cars accelerace fast and have no real option to stop especcially due to the no-stopping-area coming after 500m. At first I just tried it by thumb but after some time I found a piece of paper laying in bush which I used as a sign. A young pair stopped after some time and took me to the Stolper rest stop even though they wanted to go to Berlin Spandau. We talked about the Youtube series called "The Race" which was the reason why they stopped.

The first person I asked gave me a ride to Berlin and there would have been plenty more people to ask. Sunday 3pm.

Not the most convenient for drivers to stop if they are going towards the on-ramp. The guy pulled over across the street. I think I got lucky

Took me (woman alone) extremely long to find a ride. I walked around the gasstation and stood at different places on the (cross)road. Also had a scary experience with a guy that had purposely stopped on the onramp so I had to decide quickly. Luckily I said no and 30 min later I was taken by a really nice Israeli woman. Maybe part of it being so hard was due to the fact that gas prices were not good there and there weren't many people at the gas station.

Best spot to leave Berlin south or west.
Ask around for rides west or(!) south and respekt common etiquette if there are other hitchhikers. I hitchhiked 15 times from here (mostly alone) and it always worked.
Waiting time 5-90 min.
60% of the time you end up 50km further at a big rest stop in Michendorf where A3 and A9 splits. While there might be another 45 min waiting time awaiting you its still worth it to go there. After Michendorf it will get better!
