Good spot, we think. It seems to be a regular spot for hitchhikers heading south/southwest/west. We stood by the western on-ramp to the autobahn. Not a lot of traffic, but we also arrived late in the day. P.S. There’s a shower: think about using it you bum!We were two guys hitchhiking late in the afternoon/evening. We were signaling to go for Leipzig/Magdeburg. The hour was late in the day, so when a driver offered us a ride to Leipzig we accepted. In hindsight, we should probably have headed straight west towards Magdeburg/Hannover, since it was difficult to plan the route after stopping on the road to, or in, Leipzig. We were heading northwest after Leipzig towards Göttingen/Kassel via the A38. We did however get onto the A38 by sheer luck, the driver’s poor sense of direction and him being a bit creepy (esoteric guy that let us lie in the back of his van). Stay safe out there folks.

In and of itself probably a good spot for hitchhikers, seeing as many people going far on the highway stop here. However, be aware that there are very few other stops along the A38; if you end up at Querfurt and don’t find a ride to wherever you’re going, you’re going to be stranded. There is nothing within walking distance. I would also avoid going there at night. We were dropped off at 11 in the evening and didn’t end up catching a ride until early morning.―Ledan

I got a lift down the A9 to Hermsdorfer Kreuz early on a Saturday afternoon. Lots of cars, good atmosphere. Before, various drivers had offered me to take me to destinations that were not far enough and people came me to give me water, a tomato and chocolate croissants.―stonefruit

it's my new favourite spot to go from leipzig to berlin. you can go there by bus and walk a little. not super busy but more rewarding than thumbing at dölzig a little more north―roudou

Took me (woman alone) extremely long to find a ride. I walked around the gasstation and stood at different places on the (cross)road. Also had a scary experience with a guy that had purposely stopped on the onramp so I had to decide quickly. Luckily I said no and 30 min later I was taken by a really nice Israeli woman. Maybe part of it being so hard was due to the fact that gas prices were not good there and there weren't many people at the gas station.―Eefje

good to hitchhike to the south (Munich) or north (Berlin) via A9 or to the west (Magdeburg, Hannover, Braunschweig) or east (Dresden) via A14. Just ask people at the Aral-gas station or at McDonald's. There is a train station of the S10 which goes from Halle to Leipzig and back every half an hour (exit Schkeuditz West)―Anonymous

Directions : Magdeburg, Hannover, LeipzigGood place for hitchhiking, with a sign on the side of the road. The gas station before is not so good, few cars go on this one.

a good place to reach 'bitterfeld' from 'halle'. i tried to reach 'dresden' but only received offers to 'leipzig'. there is many cars passing this spot (safe conditions for cars to stop) but most of the traffic is commuting. at the gas station (or the mc. donald's restaurant) on the opposite side of the road it is not easier to find someone. mostly locals eat their cheeseburgers(or fill their cars) there. on my personal ranking "1" (very-very poor) to "10" (excellent) i will rate this spot a "5 to 6".―Anonymous

If you get a ride from Berlin or from the South and you want to go to Leipzig while your driver continues along the A9, you can either get off in Schkeuditz or at the airport, where you can take the train (3.60€) and be in Leipzig in 10min. You can use the same ticket for the city transport for the next 2h.―Anonymous

Ramp. Waited 2 hours before getting a lift to a tankstelle. But thats because I think people werent inclined to bring a sopping wet hitcher (it was raining a lot) accompanied by his shitty muddy rucksack! Im going to say its good because theres tons of traffic and place to pull over.―Anonymous
