very populated place, most tourists starts hiking to the brocken (highest mountain in the harz) from here, also wintersport tourist will most probably have a parking here. in the afternoon many of them are leaving to the north (Bad Harzburg, Braunschweig) it will be no problem t o get a lift. near this parking you can also find small restaurants and clean toilets.

Super easy to get to Torfhaus/Braunlage very fast, on the other side it's also easy to get to Braunschweig and sometimes the A2 or further. A7 is more difficult, try to get to Goslar in the direction of Langelsheim for that.

A lot of Traffic to nurnberg but u can also Catch Rides to Leipzig or Berlin even to Westgermany is possible. Just stand with a sign or ask people directly

Cars driving a little fast here, but if they are interest they will slow down. Maybe it would be a better idea to get to the ramp to A36 where cars driving slow. But its still working here.
