Germans were rather unwilling to stop as there was not enough space to stop. I was exactly at the intersection to get both sides traffic. I was lucky as a guy came in a huge BMW stopped in the middle of the road just to let me in, oblivious of the others cars behind him! He then drove me fast to Karlsruhe (up to 180km/h!).

Got a ride close to Heidelberg. I would say that the place is quite bad. Cars that go to the highway are driving 2 lanes from you so they can’t really stop or see you easily. I asked drivers on the gas station a d got extremely lucky with a dutch car going west/north.

Went to Pforzheim, but I can imagine it’s easy to go to Karlsruhe or even further quite easily. I was there during lunch so it was full of cars there.

There's not really space to stop which is a little dangerous. But you'll always find some brave people willing to block off the motorway for you :)

It's not fantastic, but it's fairly easy to stop and people go slowly. Many city people who aren't going long distances. But they smile and wave kindly. I wanted to go north and had A5 on my sign. In the 20 minutes I was standing there 4 people stopped who were all going south on the A5. In the end I took a ride just to get out of the city and onto a A5 highway entrance.

If you stand at the exit of the XXXLutz there are constantly new people you can ask but offen times they will drive to another furniture store or ins the city.

waited a bit, not perfect because bus stop and lane for road 5 going south is seperated by exit ramp going somewhere.finally we got a ride 15 minutes south to some gas station. fair enough.

I just needed to leave Karlsruhe in the direction of Nürmberg (east or north). The first guy I asked took me north to a better spot.

A small rest place. These sometimes get a bad reputation, but I kinda like them. There is always some traffic, and it never takes me a long time to find a ride from them.
