You can try this gas station to find a lift to Braunschweig or the autobahn A2.―Anonymous

Direction: EastMany cars only come for fueling to this gas station and then go back to Salzwedel. It should be easy to find somebody to bring you there but I don't know how many of them can bring you to the other side of the city to go on hitchhiking.

Direction: West.This gas station is mostly frequented by people coming from Salzwedel going to... Salzwedel. But there are also some going the direction of Uelzen and maybe after one hour or longer there will be somebody taking you there.
I recommend asking people while fueling and standing next to the road the rest of the time.
