Decent place for hitching out of Dresden towards the Czech border. A fair amount of CZ cars passing by. We were picked up by a couple going to Prague after about half an hour; they were not local (from Frankfurt), so it seems long-distance traffic passes through here. We stood at the bus station, where there is ample space for cars to stop. Traffic isn’t too fast thanks to the lights.

We got from here to Dresden fairly quickly. I get the point that the spot isn’t super accessible, but if you walk along the outskirts of the field, you don’t have to wade through too much shrubbery. It’s a very doable hike, even without appropriate shoes. (Just make sure not to step into the little stream running along the 14; it’s very obscured by tall grass, but you can jump across it.) Even though there’s no shoulder, cars can easily pull over on the grass.

Not that much traffic but enough that you can approach somebody new every few minutes. Got a ride directly into Prague. Also met some nice hitchhikers here.

Awesome spot, cars going in the direction of Bautzen are not plentiful, but still a decent number, and they have to stop in front of the traffic light. Also, there is a spot where they can easily pull over in case you need to put your stuff in the trunk.

This spot is not the best, but there are a lot of cars going around you, but not much space to stop, though. But in just a few minutes, a guy returned from me and brought me all the way to the A4 highway.

Getting dropped off here was a mistake. The traffic is low, and the spot itself isn't great.

It’s very hard to go out of Dresden
I had a sign for Prag / Praha and the „best“ spot is to stand in front of the bus station
A sign is necessary for more visibility as the cars speed up towards you so it’s rather fast but they will notice you at the traffic lights
Also lots of local people and maybe 5-10% from Czech
It was Saturday 6pm so in general few cars and I got very very lucky by David all the way to Prag

The day I was here was vacation start so a lot of cars with families fully packed and a few DD-Plates
I stood with a sign for Dresden right before the exit but my backpack was 20 meters away so people will see the backpack first and then you so they have more time thinking about picking you up, that was the reason why I was eventually picked by 2 older women all the way to Dresden

The men’s restroom was very dirty, and it took a long time for the cars to stop.

Good spot to wait, very easy for cars to pull over and stop just after the lights. Mostly seemed like local traffic though so went ignored by about 200 cars before someone pulled over. On my way to Prague and got a lift to Dresden from here

Probs the best spot in Schandau, only place where cars can actually stop, but the traffic is not from the larger road, so probably not good for long distances, but we made it to pirna and maybe some ppl will be driving to dresden.

Not much space for cars to stop, also there's not much traffic. Nevertheless I managed to get a ride really fast.
