Direction: Hannover and generally central Germany. Very nice place right next to the autobahn. Just make sure you stay before the blue sign (otherwise illegal) and don't stay behind the bridge pier. It's too dangerous and drivers see you too late.
How to get there:
Take the tram line no 1 to Dietrich Bonhöffer Straße. The station is south south west of the hitch point. Southwards trough the gardens until the next parallel street, then left to the station.

This spot is ok in the direction of Hannover, but not to Hamburg.

Used to be the best spot in former times, but cars became faster, so they don't stop as easily anymore ...

OK Spot, many drivers are already too fast though

Direction Bremen, Hanover, Hamburg, Osnabrück

Most cars go into Bremen, however.

My first try finding a spot to the A27 (-> Hannover) and I got a bit lucky, I guess. At both of the petrolstations weren't many cars and most of them locals or heading in the direction of Osterholz-Scharmbeck/Bremerhaven. I
So I made a sign and stood short behind the traffic lights because most of the cars beginning to speed up

Great place to hitchhike towards Bremen. Traffick is not so fast and cars can stop easily. And just in case there is a bus stop nearby.

I agree with the latest review, it is entirely better to directly ask drivers in Germany (and elsewhere for that matter). Wasn’t having a lot of luck but by looking at the license plates I found a direct car to Bremen! Very sometimes the license plates are good indicators here in Germany :) I must’ve taken around 20 minutes before finding that ride

Got past the metal fence and asked the first truck I saw, who agreed to bring me to Germany, and didn’t want to drop me at a gas station at 8 pm so one of them brought me to my final destination Bremen

Sat here on a rock with a sign saying ‘Bremen?’ Got picked up maybe after about 45 minutes can’t remember.

This is a great spot to hitchhike from! The third car I asked to took me in I’m not sure if I put it correctly on the app, but look for the « kiss and drive » parking/Kurzzeit Parkplatz. It is great, as people won’t stay more than 10 minutes, making the flow of cars stopping there very quick. And because this is a big airport there’s gonna be a lot of cars coming to drop off or pick up someone and potentially from a lot of neighbouring cities (my case, needed to go to Bremen). I was there on a Sunday around 3 pm

I’ve got really mixed experiences about this spot. I have found a car in less than 30 minutes sometimes, and other times it has taken over an hour until I found a car taking me in my direction (this spot might be better if you’re only looking to stay on the 27, in my case I had to get on the highway 1, both directions are tricky)
