It's not perfect as you are standing right on the highway but it works surprisingly well. I think that highway hitchhiking is the way for Greece

First I tired standing here as traffic volume wasn't too bad on this road and there is some place for stopping here but well it's Greece so nobody has stopped and when traffic deteriorated I decided to just go on the highway itself

I was little bit afraid to go here in the first place because of fine risk but it's really good spot, guy stopped in literally 7 minutes and took me closer towards Thessaloniki. Only down site is that speeds on highway are high and I needed to run a little to my driver's car as stopping on highway takes some time

We gave up after one evening and one morning of hitchhiking. Seems like a good spot but cars don’t stop. I guess it’s just Greece combined with bad luck. We took the bus from Chrysoupoli to Xanthi (4€ and every 2 hours)
