big(ish) road going through small place, you get the best of both worlds
loads of space to pull over in front of church, cars are going slow into the village, can see you from far away, many people driving down this direction

People just drive off from the roundabout and there’s a hard shoulder to pull over to.

Very good place for direction Macroom, Killarney. Take the bus from the University College to the last station. Ask the driver for the way to the national road. He has to go there anyway and might take you a little further than the last station.

These traffic lights are a good spot to get out of Cork at. Lots of traffic going to Mallow etc.

Stood on footpath at Silver Spings Moran's Hotel. Waited 20 mins to get to Dublin

Ask around for lifts towards Dublin or Waterford at the two petrol stations that are here. Most traffic will at least head to the roundabout where the motorway to Dublin starts.

Amazing spot for catching lifts to Dublin - cars are slow as they are just coming out of the roundabout, and there is a huge hard shoulder to pull over into. It's now a motorway, so you might possibly be doing something illegal, though.
