if youre leaving tuam (direction galway) from this roundabout then hitch on the N83 exit instead of the motorway entrance. cars are more likely to stop for you along this road than the motorway, and its generally safer and youre more likely to get a lift quicker. i got a ride here in two minutes in the middle of november even though it was almost dark.―Leslie

walked north west along the ennis road with my thumb out and a sign for Galway. i got a lift just before the roundabout all the way to Tuam. most people driving to galway or ennis will leave limerick along this road and theres plenty of space along this road for cars to pull over with the bike lane and cars are going slow.―Leslie

mostly local drivers, busy crossroads at least at the weekends though, so bound to get a good lift sooner or later. with a sign maybe eady to get a lift to roscommon quicker―BI

Was skeptical about this spot at first, from a distance it didn’t look like there was much space to stop. Lo and behold, I walked over the road and within 30 seconds I got picked up. Had a lovely journey to the outskirts of Galway with a young catholic lad called Tommy (legend), we enjoyed some classic rock tunes and some good chat. 10/10 would recommend.Time for a Guinness I reckon.
