Irish luck is once again on my side, just pulled out my fresh new sign and a car pulls right up. Good little lift into Rosscahill.―willjmaker

signed for dublin and got lucky with a lift quickly. seems like a good spot at first because drivers can see you from across the crossroads but cars are driving too fast here from the dual carriage way to slow safely, and cars turning from the perpendicular roads are mostly locals. try after the roundabout on the motorway or at the traffic lights before the clinic to the south.―Leslie

was still writing my sign when someone stopped and asked me where I'm going, good amount of traffic and not loads of space to pull over―rot

if youre leaving tuam (direction galway) from this roundabout then hitch on the N83 exit instead of the motorway entrance. cars are more likely to stop for you along this road than the motorway, and its generally safer and youre more likely to get a lift quicker. i got a ride here in two minutes in the middle of november even though it was almost dark.―Leslie

good spot for getting out of galway south bound. take bus 404 to oranmore north and walk back a bit to the roundabout. better for rides to Ennis or limerick than trying to hitch on the motorway by the clinic.lots of traffic on weekday morning

caught a lift straight to ennis early monday morning. anywhere on the oranmore bypass is good but this spot will catch all the traffic leaving town and its right after a roundabout so cars are slowed :-)―Leslie

hitched from here a good few times, never waiting more than 20 minutes for a ride to Galway or Clare. can ask for rides from the rest stop but can easily just thumb a ride from the on slip.―Leslie

-> Galway city. Good place to stand if you are going into Galway city, rather than on the dual carriageway, if you get a lift as far as Oranmore.―Anonymous

This is just beyond the traffic lights at Galway Crystal and Bodkin's Bar. Bus 4E (Mon - Sat) and bus 9 (every day) will bring you here. Ask the driver to stop at Galway Crystal (on the 9) or at the gate of Merlin Park Hospital (on the 4E). For all points East (towards Dublin) and South (towards Limerick and Cork).―Anonymous
