Biggest parking for trucks I've ever seen, maybe 200-300 of them. Every single one was going to France or Spain so it was s perfect spot to catch someone that direction. But we were going further into Italy

There was mostly traffic from trucks but also a few cars going through. We've been waiting there for 2 hours asking around and caught a 300km ride somewhere around 23:00 by a guy that drove a Porsche there for some rich kids from Monaco

For me the best spot in that neighborhood to go hop on the highway

I was asking almost all people entering autogrill bar, I had a "Genova" sign with me. Most people were heading east (Piacenza, Venezia, Bologna) while the others (some of them going south) were simply refusing to take me. Finally, after more than two hours, I asked sb to take me to the Alessandria's train station (the first person I asked, agreed) and I continued by train.

If you go east, the place seems to be very good.

On theory the spot seems to be good: most of the cars are moving to south/east and few of them to the city. However, I waited so a long time with little success. I had a "Genova" sign with me and after more than two hours (Saturday, morning) I got a short 60km ride.

Asked around with sign saying "Genova", didn't get a direct ride yet but closer surely.

It was not too busy in summer Monday around 14. But not empty either. I was directly asking for a ride to Genova/Alessandria and got one. Going to get off at one other gas station before Alessandria. I would not take shorter ride as there are not too many rest stops.

Waited for 3 hours in total (2 seperate hitches). TONS of space to pull over (autogrill plus big unused bus stop), but after a few insults shouted at me and 120 minutes waiting, I got a lift to Novi Ligure. Traffic here goes 2 ways, not a good spot but seemingly the only one in Alessandria.

There's a 1m high fence around the gas station, but there are places, where it can be easily crossed. Stand: march'23

Another french hitchhiker was there, he was going north and me toward bologna. I was asking drivers with my best italian "lei parla inglese? no? ho, vado verso alessandria e mi serve un passagio per favor." I had a lot of friendly reaction and many people were not going there, eventually, a french dude drove me to an autogrill close to alessandria. Nice

Probably great if you go to Genova or Turin, but I asked for Piacenza and no one was going this way... I eventually found someone but prepare to wait quite a bit

We had to go there like 5km through the forest and the river because we've been left on the prior gas station going in the direction of Milan. After getting to that station first people we asked took us to Piacenza. Turned out it was s pretty famous Italian director
