What a spot, I had a sign to Rimini and got picked up by a lovely lady in 15 mins, petrol station for people to drive into, lots of cars going by and traffic so they can see you―SunnySupertramp

I took the tram T1 to the airport and walked there. Many people are going to Prato. After asking around for more or less 20 minutes I got a ride to Bologna―hitchiker69

Was looking for a ride south along the Adriatic, we found one before we even got to the spot we wanted to hitch from by walking along the SS64 with our thumbs out. Bologna is great!―road2riot2k25

We started at Rimini Nord toll booth and easily got a ride here. It was very hot in the morning so we didn't want to wait. After 10 minutes a camper driver saw us waving from afar and came back to pick us up. He took us to Samoggia a little town after Bologna. One girl one boy.―GiovanniTonucci

Best place for going north towards Padova. Take the bus to stop Bentivoglio Z. i. Barche and then walk on Via Sammarina for 500 m, then turn right.―Anonymous

Second time we find out, that the bolognian people do not like Hitcher. That was the second time was was tiring to catch a car. Stood there for 2-3 hours. Many cars pass by, even local people tells us. That this is the best possible stop. that was our second time we was forcer to leave Bologna by Train.―Anonymous

Beware, looks like a good spot, there is a lot of parking places and Macdonal. But Bolognian people do not takes Hitchers. Been in bologna 2time, every time we was forced to leave it by train. Stood there for 3hours, without any result.―Anonymous

We waited for hour and a half to get a ride in direction Padova. A majority of cars seems to go in direction Milano, and many of them go just to Bologna. Very good spot to go in direction Milano and average for going to Padova and direction A, SLO, HR.―Anonymous

Got a ride to Bologna after 30 minutes of smiles.Invest 1,50€ by Roger app to get bus 9 from Rimini station to San Vito or train to Santarcangelo and walk from the last stop. Stand before the "no autostop". A young guy saw his wanderer friend in me and picked me up. Traffic is chilled but could be busy in rush hours.

Great spot, got a ride all the way to Italy. A lot of ppl going on Munich, Norynbergy and further south. Stand by the gas station, not the parking spots (there is more traffic)―karo

Noce spot, car can stop and you can go in pretty much all directions from here. Beware Bolognesi are not big fans of hitchhikers but somebody will eventually stop; I wanted to go to venice/padua, wrote a sign with padova/ ferrara A13 and it helped.―Tomtom

An extremely busy Autogrill! So many German cars going both North and South. For some reason though quite difficult to get to Bologna from here and close to IMPOSSIBLE to go East towards Rimini. You can ask people directly where they're going or stand with a sign at the exit of the gas station (less effective).
According to my calculations the peak traffic was reached at 1 pm with an average of 60 cars passing in the Southern direction and 40 in the Northern (yes I spent the whole day here, it was this comfy + nice view).
The grocery shops on both sides of the road are so busy you can easily get away with taking any food/drinks and going upstairs with it to the restaurant (Didn't want to risk too much and only got 1 pack of chocolates 4 euro worth).
Tablediving is indeed extraordinary here! Mostly due to presence of many wasteful Americans XD
Can't vote for the free showers though, doubt it's still a thing.
Not sure if you can camp nearby this place but there are some pretty thick trees at the boot of the hill (some fences have to be jumped over to get there).

I waited 90 minutes but i think i was just unlucky. Three cars stopped for me but all were going to South and i wanted to go to Bologna. There are enough place for the cars to stop, you can hitchhike before the no autostop sign so its not illegal to do it here. The other entrance to the highway in Rimini is now under construction so probably its the best spot to hitchhike up to the highway for both direction.―HUNmeszabi

Pros - well equipped Decathlon beside, large roundabout to wait, good spot to drop off while arriving from Modena, 1,50€ train by Casalecchio Palasport station or bus from Ceretolo Vivaldi (Riale is 2,20)Cons - this spot takes you into the main road to Bologna and potentially into the highway but you should be sure whether driver goes north, east or south so that you don't get stuck on the highway.
