Cars can see you from distance and there is enough space for them to stop. But the problem is, that you are still quite in the center and with sign to Livorno its a bit strange. One car offered me Empoli and second Lucca but I declined both (should have taken Empoli).―Zava

Not a frequented gas station. Maybe 1 car left every 5 minutes (cca 6 cars in 30 minutes). One older lady offered me a ride to Viareggio but I declined because I wanted to Livorno.―Zava

I had sign to Bologna and after first hour I gave up and went to the city. After some hours I returned and I get a stop after 5 minutes. But I think that its a bit illegal here since two police cars told me, that I cant hitchhike there, but I explaind them, that it is not highway yet (they were laughing at my italian and let me hitchhike - cool guys).And italians are not into taking hitchhiker so the driver was Albanian.

I was alone with sign trying to get to Bologna. You are kind of hidden behind the curve and there is a big sign "no autostop" above you. There are a lot of cars, but they are speeding. Also the spot where they could stop you was still occupied by some other cars setting their gps. And italians are not into taking hitchhikers, so the driver was a foreigner and he took me to the first exit.―Zava

very bad spot, the highway sign is placed so that all the good spots for hitchhiking are blocked off and you will be risking a fine if you pass it, also be careful, it turns out there are 2 signs marking the start of the highway, where one of them is just for show i guess cuz we got police kicking us out behind the first one, which we didnt notice at first. If you are heading towards Firenze it should be okay since we got like 5 cars stopping, but noone is heading towards Bologna. If u end up here going towards Bologna, I recommend making a sign and standing at the road marked by the map, where most cars pass through and try finding a place with the most space at this road, its not ideal, but its better than nothing.―Filipnatripu

good spot towards the entrance to the highway, but be careful cars are mostly heading towards Firenze and its hard to stop at the entrance, so if ur heading towards Bologna id rather take the non-highway route and go city by city.―Filipnatripu

Good spot towards the highway, but I would not recommend going towards the highway if you are heading towards Bologna, since there is not much place to stop for cars before the entrance to the highway and in front of the gate it is illegal, we waited there around 4 hours, so id only hitchhike towards the highway if ur heading towards Firenze, otherwise try taking the non-highway route to Bologna.―Filipnatripu

Okay place, not much time for cars to decide, but it works, we used a sign for Florence, there is a trash can at the parking where we found cardboard so id recommend making a sign, since right away the first car we showed the sign to stoped😆―Filipnatripu

Got lucky that some workers were opening the gate as soon as I got to the station. Not sure if access is possible otherwise. No sign, asking people directly. Most foreigners were down but usually had full cars, a couple of Italians on their way to Vicenza dropped me off in Bologna.―Anonymous

Still works in 2025! When your coming from the fields there is a spot on the left side of the fence where can jump over really easily because of a small breakage.There are only a few cars going to the gas station but the second person we approached gave us a lift directly to the city center in Florence.

you can reach this gas station from florence center by taking bus for the aeroporto. from here, you can take any ride that is entering the autostrada, and if they are not going your direction they can leave you at the first service area on the autostrada, from which it is probably more convenient to hitch.―Anonymous

from Florence city center, try to catch a bus direction Prato! it stops 20m from the petrol station, must be way cheaper than the bus to the airport (6€!!!)―Fra.mae
