Every local will stop to take you just few citys\villages but you can just dont pay the ticket for the train to Milan, they dont check the Tickets often. If your a tourist just talk in your local language and they will kick you out at the next Station and you can take the next train (if your a tourist it prettymuch works in everey regional train in Italy)―zare

got stuck here around 17.00 with heavy rain aswell. In the evening nobody is going to Switzerland from here. Fortunately after 2 hours some locals let my stay at their place and next morning I got a ride in direction of Lausanne within 30 min. This place is good in the morning and bad in the evening!―Anonymous

We wanted to reach Switzerland but ended up in this gas station by night (there's a gas station in both direction) so we slept there and start hitchiking again in the early morning with some heavy rain, one of the first car that stoped here for gas took us until Lausanne.―Anonymous
