Wanted to hitchhike from here further north to austria, but all cars just go to Verona or at the junction in front of Verona west or east... (didnt speak italy)―Anonymous

A pretty nice restaurant + gas station that's perfect if you're going in the Eastern direction (Verona, Padova, Venezia, Udine and also Slovenia). Way harder to find anyone who would be going North to Trento. Also I found it quite tricky to get to Modena from here. I waited for a couple of hours and got tired after asking more than 100 different cars so I decied to go set up my hammock behind the gas station, oh how naive I was. There's NOTHING behind the gas station. Just some persimmon plantation, private property all over and a road leading to a ghost town. Though there is a nice restaurant 500 m away from the station (I asked for some food but they refused to give me any. Then the most beautiful waitress offered to buy me a pizza with her money but I gently refused <3) and a big truck parking where I made friends with some Slavic drivers and they gave me their food too.After some time I lowered my demands and ened up going just below Mantova.

Nice little gas station with a pastry shop. Has very good traffic, most of which are Germans headed to the South of Italy.It was late at night (around 2 am) when I got here and there was still some traffic. Here I charged up my phone and the worker lady gave me some delicious pizza for free after I asked if I could have some food. Ended up making friends with a Turkish truck driver who also fed me and gave me the upper bed in his truck to sleep.
In the morning I easuly found a ride in the direction of Firenze.
