Good spot. A lot of space to stop. And drivers see you fro a long time. Also nice spot because got to witness how motorcycle ran into a standing car. And one woman with a kid took me out of her way a bit to Falconara.

Arrived by ferry (which i paid for) in Ancona. I stood near the exit for cars with my prepared sign, and someone stopped in less than 10 minutes and took me to an Autogrill in Bologna.

hard for cara to stop here— we split up so 1 person was closer to the exit of the tunnel, and another one was right in front of the gas station so cars had more time to decide whether to stop. we were trying to go to foggia, but here it’s mostly local drivers so we didn’t get far.

Was looking for a ride south along the Adriatic, we found one before we even got to the spot we wanted to hitch from by walking along the SS64 with our thumbs out. Bologna is great!

Good place to start from Ancona since it's close to the airport and is the entrance for North or South of the A14.

Harbour of Ancona.
While it's a little hard to hitchhike in Italy here a lot of cars arrive with a ferry coming from greece, Mostly in holiday seasons a lot of cars heading France and germany. A little hard to ask because everyone is so upset with all the traffic but possible to ask when they come out from the ferrys.

Direction Ancona and north. Recommended spot if you leave Camerino. Not sure about the new SS256 Pedemontana road - try it and let us know.
I came here by direct bus from Camerino 3€ via Contram app. Don't follow GMaps, no one crosses Albacina. A lot of viewability + space to stop, no police. It's legal to hitch here. To Rome, Fabriano west works better.
The first 2 cars offered me 20km, so i waited. A woman entered the free highway and came back >10km to pick me up :D
A really easy day. Got 4 rides up to Rimini!

I arrived from Fabriano and continued towards Rimini. Friendly people waving and smiling from cars and buses. There's lane enough to stop within the roundabout. A family picked me up.
As long as it gathers drivers from Jesi and Fabriano free highway, this spot serves the south direction too. If not, Ancona south toll can be better.
See you in 5!
