In Winter I waited 2 hours and a half at the entrance. Tried also to ask at the gas station but really few cars. Most of the traffic was going nearby or in Napoli. I had a sign Salerno and managed to get only to the next gas station

If you want to go to Roma, the first tollgate on the way is Caserta.

Gaz station and Autogrill.
We were a couple here on a Monday.
Less car traffic at the station, more at the autogrill.
Employees at the gaz station were nice, giving us advices for the driver we should ask.
We found a car going on the A1 (Roma).
