Had palmanova sign, straight to the toll station - not the best spots to stop but all local traffic―Kjmurray1230

There were hardly any cars, and no one spoke English. You had to take the bus.―Oskarek

Great spot for going East (Ljubljana in my case). Asked everyone for a lift and a truck driver took me on his way to Zagreb.Employees said hi, pretty cool folks. But I didn’t dare take my LJ sign out in case the Police stopped by (happened to me in Padova)

Perfect spot to go to Trieste, I just asked around and found a Ukrainian family going to Rijeka that even dropped me in the city center. Too kind!―cavalierrustique

Perfect spot to go Venezia, personally I had a ride to Palmanova which is even further! :) thanks Marko in his old school van! Just ask around at the exit of the shop when people get out, avoid using thumb in case there's police (dis saw it all the day)🚨―cavalierrustique

Quite lot of cars going to Venice direction to highway. Not the best spot but still the option. We (2) had a sign Venice/Verona. People at least waving on us.―TwoThumbsTravel

Asked around and got a ride from a very nice local going to Udina. He took us to the other station near Udine (Palmanova) at the highway intersecting direction Slovenia-Austria. He went and asked other italian people for 5 mins to pick us up next. Very funny guy. The gas station is filled with locals so you have to asked around and be ready to wait a bit.―Jachymulus

a good place to reach MESTRE (meaning VENEZIA) from UDINE (or just to relay). there is only few cars stopping at this petrol station, it took me 30 minutes to find a driver but everyone is very polite and helpfull. there is a shop as well as a little restaurant at this place. it is difficult to reach it from the normal road network as you have to walk through some gardens (north, along the autobahn), along a concrete noise-reduction-wall and over the off-ramp of the autobahn first (maybe there is an easier way too..?). on my personal scale from 1 to 10 (1 = poor, 10 = excellent) this spot deserves a "7 to 8" as it is very safe to stand at and everyone is very friendly.―Anonymous

i tried to reach MESTRE meaning VENEZIA from here - but was not successful. there is many cars passing but no one took me during one hour. positive option: visit PALMANOVA instead of crying, a 400 year old fortified city with a name that can be translated as "the new palm". you can walk there from this place in 15 minutes. there is also supermarkets 2 minutes from this spot (can be seen on the satellite image). standing on the peage (maut-/toll-) station is not allowed, the empoyees will show you away immediately.―Anonymous
