we started asking around at the gas station, but after someone complained, the lady from the gas station threatened to call the police. she told us to stay at the entrance from the round-about, where she 'could not see us'. no one stopped for our sign, but at 10 the gas station closed and we continued asking people. we got a ride to the next big autogrill very quick.

We were stopping there with multiple huge signs (slovenia, austria, airport)
People passing be were interested and slow down to read the signs (we were creating a small traffic gem)
The first guy who stoped was going to austria but didn't have enough space for both of us.
After another 3h a guy from germany took as to the airport.
The spot is propably as good as it gets around here.

The spot seems quite good, slowly moving cars and a good amount of them.

We were originaly trying to get to vienna or in the direction of germany but we met a guy going to italy who was willing to take us with him so we went for it.
Wouldn't recommend trying to go to vieanna from here. Many people seemed to go to Budapest from here

Unfortunate and bad at the same time. We walked ( 2 guys) from Mestre/Venice to get a ride to Udine/Palmanova. When we arrived 1 cars was freshly robbed! Police came told us that we cant stop cars. For about 2 hours we waited till the police left. Then we tried to asked drivers on the petrol station but the staff told us that we can do it only next to the entrance ir near to the shop next to the petrol station. So we devided one took a sign and went to the exit to take cars from petrol station and one tried to ask people that went to the shop. so after 3,5 hours we got a ride to better place, however from that place most of the cars to Venice and not to Palmanova/Udine. If you can, avoid this petrol station. It had bit sketchy vibe + most of the poeple werent very nice/ lot of city locals. Altought it wasnt very good place to stop, there are plenty of truck drivers, if you going alone, try your luck!

S tier gas station you can shower for free. Other than that expensive but you can charge your things free drinking water in the bathroom.

We got lucky and found a Czech guy going our way (we are also czech) so he took us but if he didn’t it would prolly take a bit longer CZU it was later as well.

We were tryna get to Venice but not many ppl were going there surprisingly.

Asked around and got a ride from a very nice local going to Udina. He took us to the other station near Udine (Palmanova) at the highway intersecting direction Slovenia-Austria. He went and asked other italian people for 5 mins to pick us up next. Very funny guy. The gas station is filled with locals so you have to asked around and be ready to wait a bit.

The spot on the way to Italy isn't practical, as there's not really room for the car to stop. But it did the trick for us as a car took us away after 5 minutes.

There is a gas station where you can ask, but most people stay locally. Cars go too fast to stop on the roundabout. Guaka and Erga tried getting 7 km east for two hours, without success.

you can hitch from this petrol station in western direction to PADOVA, and VICENZA also furtheron to MILANO on autobahn (motorway) 'A4'. there is mostly commuter traffic but people are friendly and someone will be able to take you on the next petrol station & rest area on A4 (around 15 kilometers west of MESTRE) when the newly built autobahn-bypass has joined again with the local 'A57' highway. this station here receives an 8 on my 1 to 10 scale (1 = very bad to hitch from, 10 = best place ever) as it5 is safe, many cars stop and people are friendly. again, ask drivers to take you on A4 to the next bigger petrol station, everyone understands english.

a very good relay on my way from MESTRE (VENEZIA) to MILANO in summer 2010. as not everyone from the MESTRE-area (from where i had departed) travels on long distance i had a stopover here for 30 minutes. there is lots and lots of traffic at this place - trucks, busses, cars. there is a petrol station, a rest area as well as a large restaurant. people speak english very well. there are oppportunities to get taken to PADOVA, VICENZA, VERONA, BRESCIA as well as MILANO during minutes. on my personal rating from 1 to 10 (1 = worst ever, don't go there!, 10 = perfect spot) i want to rate this place a "9 to 10" as it is safe, clean and people are very friendly.

Very bad station, avoid. If your there ask for lift people going to the airport by A4, theres better station on the way.

Nasty place during roshour, don't really like it. Lot's of locals and lot's of speeding cars.

Instead of asking on gas station we stood directly on roundabout for ~1hour and got straight lift to trieste.

Reachable by train form Venice, the two stations on vboth sides of the highway have been conected by tunel. Which was flooded last year!

One of the most horrible places on earth to hitchike, was stuck here several times while trying to get aout of Venice . Trafic is fast, chaotic, local and long distance but just fucking messy. If you want to head in the direction of milano while leaving Venice the best way is to take any train in the direction of Milano and get of ar Dolo, then walk to reach the gass station.
