At first I was worried that the spot was gonna be bad because it really doesn't seem like cars could stop anywhere. BUT: after only 2 minutes I got a ride to himeji with a very kind family.
They stopped their car in a road parallel to the onramp, so if you attract cars from the main road, they will have a chance to stop there and reenter onto the highway, so don't worry.
I even got help from the local firefighters at their building just down the road, one of them walked me all the way to the point and explained me where to go and what to write on my sign.
If you need the bathroom, further down the road there is a gas station with a clean bathroom, so your needs should be covered.
I recommend this spot, even though it seemed sketchy at first.
Edit: on my sign I wrote 姫路方面 which means "towards himeji"
You can ask your ride to drop you of at the next SA, or service area
