After coming back from a horse riding track at Songkul, I was trying to hitch westwards to Karakol. Definitely a remote area with only a few villages around. Best chances are probably trucks which also gave me a ride to Balyktschy from where I continued. At this point is enough space for cars to stop and also a bus station for the Marshrutkas. All in all possible but some patience needed but more traffic than expected―Anonymous

Perfect spot to go to karakol from, me and another traveler went to the dead lake. But it is a really good spot!―Tuunu

Got tea and free accommodation, 10/10 spot. Car traffic is very high and there is enough space for cars to stop.―Tuunu

you can walk for a couple hours through the town or pay ~20 soms (2011) to taxist and ask for "Zheleznodorozhny most" (railroad bridge over the road)―Anonymous

All traffic going to Kochkor passes through here (just stand on the roadside). Note: not much traffic to Kochkor, and the cars that go will more than likely ask for money (FYI: 100 Som is the price for a shared taxi).―Anonymous

Good spot going towards Karakol by the south side. Be aware that some drivers will expect small payment from you (especially minivan drivers) since it's common here to share a rides. However many will lift you for free.―otv3n

One hour and 0 cars going past the first house. Don't take this route to Kochkor but take the next road more towards Bishkek. Got a ride in 2 mins from there.―VeikkaK
