Lots of place for a car to pull up. Judging from my previous experience and knowledge now my short wait was just luck. Abdul, a desert camp owner from Merzouga. He was registered to take tourists. We still got pulled over and asked for registrations three times adding an hour to our drive. Managed to just get my lift before sun set and Abdul let me stay at his desert camp. Cars here are heading towards Merzouga, but the nearby police checkpoint must have scared potential lifts off. My previous truck driver stopped for me again out of sight from the gendarmes. As far as I understand now it is illegal for locals to transport tourists unless they are a registered taxi or tour guide, at least in this region. I was uncomfortable when my driver started taking backroads and hiding me in his cab as we passed through towns. I now know he was looking out for himself and I to get me where I needed to go, but don’t feel the need to continue a lift if you’re uncomfortable. Cheers for the lift though mate―Breno
