You have to wait a little but it's fully doable. I rejected fiew rides to Hamburg itself and went with driver who was going towards Bremen however during ride I found out that my driver was actually going towards the Netherlands so I decided to go there with him. At the spot itself there is nice forest for camping at night, you can access it by first crossing first fence using an open entrence for service road located in between two fences, then go litte bit north till you se place in which fence has been cutted. Then you are here, actually I would say that this spot is much better for sleeping than previous little bit up north of here and yes, thumbing at the exit works, you just need to be patient so if you are shy like me just stand there and somebody will stop

I got send away by Rijkswater staat guy from the onramp hard shoulder within 5 minutes. Walked back to roundabout just before the highway sign; there is a grass shoulder next to the road, not ideal but good enough to stop. Used sign Amersfoort.

Perfect spot to get a ride to the south/east
I usually park my bike in city near bar, walking 10min to this petrol station and it always nicely works here

It took us longer than we thought, but 22 minutes is still quick. A lot of people drove to the south. No one to Utrecht.

Hard shoulder next to long on ramp. With sign Hengelo waiting most times 5-30 minutes. Also possible when dark because of lightpoles

Short hard shoulder just after traffic lights. Long enough to stop safe. Cars coming from highway or Zutphen can see you. I used it with sign Deventer to get to center. Always worked well after 10-30 minutes

Bus stop. Most cars going towards highway, not much traffic going east. Worked with sign Deventer after 1 hour

Good traffic, people both going west and south.

A lot of local traffic at the gas station. Ended up thumbing down a car at the on ramp. Pretty good space to pull over, but not great visibility.

Got away very quickly but also very lucky.
Only a ride to the next big gas station (with MacDonald's) under Holten

Tough place, cars drive too fast and it is not pleasant to stay here. Since there are traffic lights, this is no highway and you are allowed to hitch hike here, but police doesnt like it and you dont want the discussion.
At the end it always works to go from here to Nijmegen.
If you walk 500 meters direction Nijmegen (direction Arnhem soccer stadium) you do something that is not dangerous but illegale. Here you may find a place to repair your car or whatever, Some kind of refuge, easier to stop and safe to stop. I do prefer this over the roundabout…. On the other hand, the bridge on the roundabout is great for hitch hiking in the train

We asked around the parking lot and like 6th car driver was from Turkey driving truck with fish to Rotterdam so we waited with him until his pauze ended and then enjoyed great ride, singing and eat some turkish meals with him while driving to Neatherlans.

Medium spot. On daytime quite some traffic. Cars from the right side passing by quite quickly. Took about 20 min for someone (going another direction) to stop to tell me that its not the perfect spot to get people going to Amsterdam. But after 30 min a former hitchhiker picked me up. He went an extra detour for me to drop me at the gas station "The Schaars" on A12 which he knew was a good spot. From there just one car to Amsterdam.

Keep pushing the pedestrian crossing button to force drivers to stop. They can turn into the carpool parking.
Used sign "Zutphen". Got dropped at the station with 5 minutes before my train left.
