I actually preferred this spot over the restaurant parking lots nearby.
When I was there, the parking lots were pretty empty but there was traffic on the road. There is a bus stop where cars can easily pull over right before the highway to different directions. Had a sign that said Leiden, my ride would only have gone to Alphen but ended up taking me the whole way to Leiden Central Station. Surprisingly good spot. Even though it was already 9pm.

Stood right in the corner between a main road and the turn to gas station. Heavy traffic, got picked up after 40 seconds (possibly luck xd). Real nice spot to Rotterdam.

I got very lucky with an amazing ride with a nice Spanish couple going on holiday. I went up and asked the guy if he was going towards Belgium and if I could go with him. We even had a shot of vodka to say goodbye.

Its probably not that good of a spot, but we got really lucky and second car we asked were on a way back home to France and they were willing to take us close to the exact place in Rotterdam we wanted to visit.

Great spot if you need to go to (northern) leiden from the direction of Amsterdam. The exit of Leiden itself is a bad to spot to hitchhike and quite far from the city.

Tried the entry to the gas station first but people turning left on the N11 are already sorted to the left lane so it's harder for them to pull in. So I moved to the middle berm just before the traffic lights with sign "A12". Told my driver he could drop me at the gas station on the N11 near Bodegraven, but he insisted on taking me to the next one on the A12.

Lots of people were offering rides to various parts of Ams, but we had time and decided to wait for someone going into center of Amsterdam. In the end we got amazing ride in a beautiful oldschool car of some guy living in the center of Amsterdam.
