Me and my friend (both men) started off at Bulli pt and ventured to the starting point until a taxi driver came and stopped. He was commuting to Welly and offered a free lift. Got there in 5 hr with a lunch break―MrFahrenheit

Very few spaces along this road, but here's one. Curvy road, but speeds are slow.―Anonymous

No space, and cars are fast. Walk North past bridge and walk with thumb out and maybe you'll get lucky, cuz the next good space is quite far up the road―Anonymous

Waited only a few minutes for a lift direct to the centre of Wellington. Plenty of room for cars to pull over.―luckyluke

Got a lift from a local railway worker. He travels from Welly to Palm every day, so there's a chance he'll pick you up in the afternoon. Other than that, this is a pretty rough place for cars to stop. there is a place to stop as they accelerate just before the ramp onto a motorway.―Carlitos

Terrible place if you're heading south. Got dropped off here on the way to Wellington from Auckland, while it is possible to get here southbound on SH1, almost everyone is heading north. I was there around 4 hours, was getting ready to give up, change my sign to Auckland and then fly from Auckland but absolutely lucked out with an awesome ride to Taupo area, and her son was heading to Wellington that evening so he ended up taking me, so it all worked out.Nowhere good to stand though, no room around the roundabout, so you're pretty much only going to be able to try to get either petrol station traffic or restaurant/shop traffic
