If you want to hitchhike to Cuzco, first you need to go to Juliaca. It's unlikely that you'll get a ride direct to Cusco in Puno. Good news is, is not dificult to get to Juliaca. I got in this place by foot, it was a long way, if you can catch a mini van, i recommend, they only cost about 60 centimos (cents in peruvian money).I got a ride to Juliaca in about 30 minutes in this place.

Took the bus to Cono Norte from the centre of town and then walked a few minutes. Barely had time to drop our bags and lift our thumbs that an Italian tourist with a rented car stopped to give us a lift. The road between Arequipa and Puno is absolutely gorgeous!―Circusonfoot

Looked like a good stop but we had such a hard time hitchhiking to the border with Bolivia (there were two of us, a guy and a girl). A beautiful green Volvo truck ended up stopping and taking us to the next town where we were stranded for three hours.―Circusonfoot
