Waited less than a minute for a car bringing us pretty close to the "caldeira". Just be prepared to jump into the back of a pick-up.―QuéSéYo2

Hitchhiking here is not so easy, as most local cars don't go very far. You are most likely to get a lift by tourists going the same direction as you. There is not much traffic, although it's one of the main roads of the island.―QuéSéYo2

As it's not the main road, not many cars pass here. If you're lucky enough to see one, it will most likely bring you to Varadouro, where you can camp and have a shower for free after swimming in the Atlantic ocean...―QuéSéYo2

We didn't have to wait long at all here to get a ride to Piedade, which is at the other end of Pico island. You can also get to São Roque quite easily, as all the cars getting there have to pass and can see you well.―QuéSéYo2

Just stop anywhere along the main road to hitchhike. This is a spot for getting closer to the Pico Volcano.―Anonymous

A great hitchhiking spot for going out of Horta to Flamengos or in the direction of "caldeira" (the crater of the highest volcano of Faial).―Anonymous

Very easy to get a ride to the airport. In general hitchhiking in the Azores is very easy, the only issue is some places might be quite empty, so choose your route having that in mind.―k9f100
