It was mid-January and we were worried we might be stranded. We were originally trying to take a different route, but gave up and decided it would be easier to catch a ride to Lisbon and then head north from there. For some reason, military police were posted up at the traffic circle too, we were worried they might be scaring off our potential rides, but truthfully, we were in the middle of nowhere. Luckily, we got picked up by a German guy in a half-converted DHL van, which was a new one for us. Super cool guy, super cool van, he was headed to Sintra and dropped up north of Lisbon.―cleo
