In summer crowded place with a lot of ppl heading west of Spain or Portugal (mainly Porto). Out of the season maybe not that good place. After few minutes I found a couple who give me a lift to Guimaraes.

Last roundabout before the highway, good for both ways North (Braga, Valença, Spain) or South (Porto, Coimbra, Lisbon)

Not the best place because you can't talk to people and not a lot of space to park but we got a ride within 30min - several people pointed us in another direction - maybe it's better on the Avenida de Sao Bento?

We got stuck here in the evening and decided to wild-camp (a person recommend to camp in the small "park" above the pousada, opposite of the fitness park). In the morning we got a ride within 15 min when we talked to some people

Waited there for about 1,5 to 2 hrs to get to Porto with a lot of traffic passing by and finally got picked up by a Port family. the spot itself is not bad, cars drive slowly and have place to stop, but you cannot talk to people which in Portugal definitely is a disadvantage. Maybe the nearby gasstation would have been better.

On weekends Sao Bento is usually quite crowded because it's an important place for pilgrims. For hitchhiking it's okay, we waited maybe 20-30 min (didn't get picked up by someone who went to the mass!) - probably better in direction Rio Caldo then Campo de Geres

Its is a very popular place to hitch hike if you want to go towards north in direction of Gerês, the national park.

This is my home town :) If you want to get to Braga, this is the perfect spot. 20 mins should be enough.

This is a gas station on the way to Porto and Barcelos. You can get there easily if you walk through the hidden stairs on the back of the train station. Once you get down you will see a bridge to cross the highway. The first time I went there I got a ride the first time I asked a driver! :)

Litterally asked 3 people before someone was able to take me and a mate all the way to Guimaraes. Very good spot for going further West into Spain or even Portugal.
