I had a cardboard with NIŠ -> SOFIA sign but it didn't help much. What it helped it was asking the truck drivers if they would take me.―rikimongrel1

Kind of the only decent spot towards Bulgaria, police spend a lot of time here just as locals for coffee.I've been trying for 3h until night with the little traffic from the petrol station (police was there) and 4h straight on the highway the next morning with a sign BG - СРФИЯ.
Most cars were completely full, I left with a big beer box under my legs and my backpack on my knees, that was the only room available in the car, but I made it to Sofia.

Good for hitching to Kosovo. High visibility and plenty of room for cars and trucks to pull over. Take bus 10 (direction 9. Maj) to the final stop and walk to the edge of the village. Don't bother walking to the cross with E75 as this is not an interchange.―Anonymous

Here, you may catch 70-80% of all locals driving out of the city towards Bulgarian border, but in most cases these are local rides to places on the way.―Anonymous

This is the most far place that you can reach on foot from the city that still isn't motorway. You can try hitchhiking here towards Belgrade, but vehicles are 98% domestic. The greatest value of this place is being relatively good spot for taking a ride to Hotel NAIS / toll ramps on the motorway, what is ideal hitch spot for Belgrade/north, but also Skopje/Macedonia/south. You may spot other hitchhikers here as well, such are students or other locals. 95% of cars passing here are definitely going towards Hotel NAIS/toll ramps.―Anonymous

To get here, take so called "airport bus", that's city regular bus line that circles around the town, buses are white/green and if you're in the center (lets say central square) you'll find bus stop for it if you cross through the fortress, over the wooden bridge and get in front of Nikola Tesla high school and Faculties of Architecture, Civil Engineering and/or Faculty of Electrotechnics. Get on one that goes towards the Airport, and get off before circle roundabout. From there, it's an easy few minutes walk to this spot.―Mpetrovic

Good spot to get a ride towards the toll booths. Get out THERE if you want to get a long ride to Belgrade - don't go with a car that only goes halfway (I did this stupid mistake), as the rest areas on the highway are not busy and you run the risk of getting stranded (took me 2 hours! on a rest area to find another car to Belgrade). Btw: this "Airport bus" mentioned above has number 34.―Tomtom

I was there on Saturday around midday and it was senseless to me. Cars wouldn't stop at all. I just went back to the city center and caught a bus to Belgrade.―Emanuele19956

previous comment is right about the bus. However, at this place on a motorway, vehicles drive very very fast. The good side is visibility of hitchhiker. Still, it is not allowed (in Serbia) to stand/walk on a motorway, so you risk being stopped by police and getting a mandate.―Mpetrovic
