Decent spot on the pedestrian island by the petrol station - stood with a sign to Granada and was visible to the oncoming traffic who could pull into the petrol station as well as those going directly via the petrol station. Got a lift from a group who saw me on their way in and decided a bit later to whistle my attention over and take me as close to Granada as they could. From there I got a local bus that miraculously actually existed and was the last one of the day! 20:38. Solo female hitchhiker.Gave it only 4 stars as traffic is quite quick and not so much in the left hand lane which reduces the chances of people stopping I think.

I hitchhiked with a sign "Granada" though if I had to wait longer I would have probably gone to the next exit from Alcalá, near Lidl, as it seems that there I could have had more options for a ride. It worked from here anyways, but most of the traffic here was just local.―jkczech

Entrance to the motorway heading towards Jaén. Not much space for cars to pull over, but it's possible. I waited 3 hours from 12pm midday on a saturday and got a ride from a delivery driver directly towards Jaén. I used a combination of holding sign with one hand and thumb the other.―Passports

Tried to get into the direction of Sevilla from there. Not a perfect spot, at the end I went to the gas station and talked to people. Tourists then took me near Loja―Friedolin

We stood at the exit of the petrol station with thumbs up, and within a few minutes some locals stopped and took us to Salobreña―meep

I have hitched from here towards Granada a few times, sometimes alone and sometimes with a friend. Usually the wait is 10-15 minutes.―mossenmoons

It can be faster to walk back than wait for the bus. But it’s even faster to hitchhike―Breno

This is the best spot to get in any of directions of Sevilla, Málaga or Murcia. If going to further then Murcia, wait for a ride at least to Santomera, petrol station just after Murcia, if going to Málaga or Sevilla also posible to stop by the service area just after Loja. As others say, you're in Spain, be patient!!!―Anonymous

Quite a good spot to catch a lift to Málaga - when talking to people at the gas station. It took us one car from there, going all the way. However, we might have had some luck since the gas station guy wasn't exactly very co-operative, so beware! Worth trying, in any case!―Anonymous

Gas station. Bad place for Malaga, good place for Cordoba, since the ways separate shortly before. Closes down over night.―Anonymous

This spot is nice to reach Cordoba. Remember anyway that you are in Spain and it may take long. It is a bit dangerous to reach it by foot, but once you are there, there is enough space for the cars to stop. November 2007―Anonymous
