Amazing spot. After just about 10 Minutes a couple brought me to San Cugat del Valles. Stand there with a Barcelona sign.

This is a good spot and me and my LoVE with our dog were suprised with tha car that took us. I was playing some music on my viola so maybe that helped?! Who knows…;)

This is one of the best spots in Manresa to go to Barcelona! We tried the two roundabout more in the north before for 1h15 but it was not working.
So we mooved and get a course in 2 min!!
The spot is perfect with great space for the cars to stop before the roundabout.

Perfect spot. Sunday morning, lots of international and long distance cars, going in all directions. Couldn't find cardboard so just thumbed, and got a ride all the way to Barcelona, my ultimate destination.

Not that great of a spot. Hitchiking in early November (2 guys) going south, waited for 3 hours before a Ukrainian guy took us to our destination, Peniscola. Although I don't know what would be a better spot to leave Barcelona.

We stood on a gas station without thumb or sign and some nice catalunyan guy asked us where are we going, we told him we need to get to the countryside so we can sleep and he offered to us that he will took us to his home so we can build up a tent on his garden. We were lucky, it was evening and a weekday, Lots of truck drivers and I think it is not the best spot..

Stood there with a sign to smaller town on the coast, but get a ride in direction Barcelona with a funny german guy in caravan.
Mainly locals went here, it was a weekday in the early evening, a boy and a girl

When i was dropped off by the Mallorcans i was initially nervous, it didnt look like much, but this seemingly empty (albeit very pretty) view point is a surprisingly excellent spot!
You can stand under one of palm trees, behind the barrier before the exit from the view point, be in perfect view of the drivers and in the shade; functionally hitching directly off of the road! I got a ride in under five minutes from a fantastic Catalan man called Juan-Ramon, who took me all the way to Barcelona!
My aim for the day was Tarragona, so being able to make it all the way to Barcelona was absolutely amazing!
In Barcelona i would meet a Greek girl and we would take the train together to Montserrat for El Dia De San Joan..
To Be Continued...

Maybe I got very lucky but found a ride out of the city very quickly with an A2 sign. A lot if room for cars and slow speeds after the roundabout. Reachable easily by metro and bus.

the staff is friendly and helpful. the spot was empty during the night, as pretty much all in spain. and mind you it was during the apagón. it works for several directions, namely murcia, valencia, one trucker even said he was going to badajoz. eventually a romanian van driver took me all the way to porta de barcelona, even a bit out of his way. thanks, mihail

Probably best spot to start from Barcelona towards south. Easily reachable by train.

Amazing if going North from barcelona. It takes about half an hour to get there from barcelona, because of the walk, but once i got there i got a lift VERY quickly and the lift went well into france. INSTRUCTIONS: take cercania (train)
no.2 to Montcada i Reixac (less then 2 euro from BCN-Seints). there
leave the train station to the left side of the driving direction of
the train. this is direction pedestrian zone /city center. go along
the small street til you enter the pedestrian zone (200 m from the
railway station, where you arrived). Turn to the right and walk for
about 400m (you cross the bridge and the river). then on the right
side there is a college. go til you stand under the motorway (200m).
under the motorway is a parking area. on the right side you see a
small road. follow it for 150m til' there comes an undercross for the
rails. on the left side you see the warning: \"dont cross. only for
authorized personal\". just do it and enter this zone. there is a small
way which you follow for 300m. then you arrive the petrol station. THIS WAS SO DAMN COOL. FOUND IT ON A RANDOM SITE. want to share the love

Tried hitching farther down in Barcelona, but eventually we walked up here and found a ride pretty quickly. Our sign said "VIC" however, as we were not going to France yet. This is the end of Avenue Meridiana, where it turns into the freeway, so there are a lot of cars going long distances. We were 1 guy and 1 girl.

Big service area and gas stations. East side of the road is towards Lleida and Zaragoza, west side towards Valencia.

To get here, you can take a train from Barcelona (Sants station, or so) towards Matorell.

Get off at Castellbisbal. Go behind the small station, walk over the short bridge (or was it just a raised road), and then immediately turn right and follow the dirt track back in the direction you came with the train. You will come to the service area.
