Good visibility and plenty of space for cars to pull over. I had "Balaguer" on my sign, where I intended to take a bus to Barcelona, but the guy who picked me up was going to Barcelona too, so he took me all the way. He was a very smart and interesting young man, with whom I had a many things in common. I just wish I'd been less tired from hiking all to be more attentive to the conversation. Fairly busy gas station with restaurant.Exit ramp is not super long but it's ok to wait there with sign.
No shade to hide in while waiting for a car.
It was Sunday, so I think lot of people was on journey home.
I was heading to Barcelona and got ride to Zaragoza.
Behind the gas station is little fores suitable for hammock.

So far best spot on the journey from Madrid to Barcelona. But probably got lucky with ride in 10min. I was here at morning around 9:00.Great visible spot to stand with sign and under tree with shade.
Not so busy but some flow of car is there.
I got there with bus 214 from the city. Don't take cards, better have cash in coins.

We (2 people) got a ride to Barcelona after waiting about 100 minutes and asking people at the parking area and gas station. Most people were heading south or towards Zaragoza. Still, it’s a good spot because you can easily talk to people and there’s a steady flow of cars.―ninchenbienchen

Perfect spot. Sunday morning, lots of international and long distance cars, going in all directions. Couldn't find cardboard so just thumbed, and got a ride all the way to Barcelona, my ultimate destination.―friki

Not that great of a spot. Hitchiking in early November (2 guys) going south, waited for 3 hours before a Ukrainian guy took us to our destination, Peniscola. Although I don't know what would be a better spot to leave Barcelona.―Anonymous

This petrol station is surprisingly quiet and pleasant (compared to the rest of the Jonquera industrial area). A constant flow of cars stopping by, but not super busy either. The right amount of traffic. Eventhough I had a sign saying "Figueres", where I was planning to take a train, a middle aged french couple took me all the way to Barcelona, my destination.―Mandarina787
