not perfect spot (as everywhere in Spain ;) but still possible, with sign "proxima gasolinera" you will definitely leave this place in couple hours... sib_explorer

We have tried for an hour but no traffic out of gas station, finally I have jumped on the road and stop a van. Don't write anything just stop them and say por favor, this way :)

30 min to Burgos. Ask people while they're refilling their tanks.

Its a Repsol petrol station on the high way A1, direction Burgos. You would be using this spot when you want to go north central spain or fance via Irun/Bayonne.

You get to this spot by bus, from the bus station Plaza de Castilla, take bus number 171 (its relatively frecuent). This is the first stop of the bus line. Jump off in the stop immediatly after passing the beer factory Heineken, the bus driver or other passengers will help you to find out where to jump off. It takes about 30 minutes.

Since i descover this way of leaving Madrid northwards, i never try anyother way. Average waiting time:20-30 minutes. Many drivers wont go far, but it should be possible to get a ride for at least the next 100km.

Some trucks are coming to the highway from the industrial area, good opportunity to have a ride, just be stubborn ;)

I think it's a perfect place to hichhike out of Madrid, direction to Burgos. A lot of space to stop a cars, seed is not to high. I did two times, not more then 15min of waiting.

I saw this spot from the bus, it is a gas station in A6 highway direction A Coruña, right next to the cercanías (train) station "las matas" so it would be really easy to get there.
