Its a Repsol petrol station on the high way A1, direction Burgos. You would be using this spot when you want to go north central spain or fance via Irun/Bayonne.You get to this spot by bus, from the bus station Plaza de Castilla, take bus number 171 (its relatively frecuent). This is the first stop of the bus line. Jump off in the stop immediatly after passing the beer factory Heineken, the bus driver or other passengers will help you to find out where to jump off. It takes about 30 minutes.
Since i descover this way of leaving Madrid northwards, i never try anyother way. Average waiting time:20-30 minutes. Many drivers wont go far, but it should be possible to get a ride for at least the next 100km.

I saw this spot from the bus, it is a gas station in A6 highway direction A Coruña, right next to the cercanías (train) station "las matas" so it would be really easy to get there.―Anonymous
