If going down to Javea, Oliva, Denia, etc., good place. Cars don't go too fast and have a place to pull over after the bus stop. From here, caught one of those rides that makes hitchhiking all worth it. :)))―ChristianaSammal

Good place to hitchhike both ways: Valencia & Alicante.Average 1h of waiting. Police is also interested about your activity.

Unfortunately this "Peaje" is your only chance to get to the highway. Avoid this place. It took us hours to get a ride to Alicante. There are some good tomatoes and grapes around, however. :)―Anonymous

I have to say that this was my worst experience doing hitchhiking here. A couple of brothers thought that it would be good idea to get a lift in this "Peaje" because a lot of drivers pass through it and from this place, is the only way to go to Alicante. It was in summer when I did it, and there are a lot of English people who own a summer house in that region of Spain. Reach people with fancy cars who won't even think in the possibility to give you a ride. It was a little bit late when I started to ask for a lift, but my hope ended up at midnight because nobody stopped. I was hungry but there’s no store or restaurant near there. I started to look for a place to sleep and I speeded the night on the pavement of a road. I’m in shock after this situation. I just can’t believe how selfish and indifferent can the people be.―Tavo S.
