There were nearly no one at the petrol station but I got lucky and a nice guy talked to me and said he can take me all the way

After one hour someone took me to Eibar Train Station. Decent spot but from the metro its quite a walk. With the Bus its quicker but you have to pay

Tried hitching to bilbao with the thumb didnt work at all. After 35 minutes i used my laptop as a Bilbao Sign. After 5 minutes someone picked me up. Even at a late time it worked. Decent

The gas station has the advantage to be accessible by foot in one hour from Burgos. However, it's quite small. I was there on a Sunday and there were not so many people. I preferred hitching at the entrance of the highway rather than the station to maximise the number of cars that could see me.

The spot is good, you can see drivers from both roads and they are driving slow. It's still before the highway sign (so legal). Anyway we tried twice before success. In the end we removed all signes and got a driver who was willing to drive us to the next gas station on A-8.

We (Boy/Girl) we didn't ask around the Restaurant just at the gas station and the fifth person was willing to take us to Bilbao !! Really good spot even for going to france or so - yes people have full cars but you just have to wait and be patient and maybe a sign isn't smart at this station :) 🌱

Almost impossible, I wasn't able to find a car there, look best at the other entrance of the city.

Better than San Mames, the other entrance of Bilbao, but complicated though.

not really good. Not space to stop. Separation in two ways of motorway and cars go fast.

It's not too bad, but actually you will have to walk onto the road towards vitoria - there's a huge area to stop and it's less dangerous than at the roundabout. minus: it's not really legal...but still your best bet that a driver stops earlier than the police.

Good spot to go west. Santander and Laredo are super easy from here. Only complication is staying out of the road and making yourself visible to all three lanes coming.

If you want to hitchhike out of Bilbao you have to use the other motorways. The main exits of the city no one will stop for you. Too dangerous.
source: It's my home town and have hitchhiked out of Bilbao plenty of times.

Bad luck, I wait for about two hours on my way to France, most of the drivers are locals, or go to Bilbao. After a while I decided to ask for Bilbao, so that I could go on from there.

Impossible to go past Bilbao to the South from here! The satalite picture on google maps shows a conection between this spot and the A8 straight ahead but the road must have been changed at some point.
