2 people.
We spent evening and next morning there trying to get a lift. Local guy told us that it should be easy and we can use sign „hacia valencia”. But in reality it was different. Enough space to stop for a driver near roundabout and if you go further as well. Neighbourhood is quite nice, lots of shops like leroy merlin, lidl (we slept in a tent on the parking there) - you can find whatever you want to. Finally we got a lift, half of a way to Alicante . To sum up, maybe depends on your luck. Write a comment if you use this place and tell something about your observations.

2 people.
We had been waiting there for 3-4 hours. Lot of trucks stands there for a night. It should be easy to catch them, but for 2 people its hard. Many morrocan drivers. We had a cardboard saying „hacia francia” and one employee told us that we are loco xD. Then we changed it to „hącia Granada” and some crazy guys stopped on the highway without reading our paper. When you are solo - easy, comparing to other spanish stations.

Shop in the gas stations is quite expensive (like 2,5e for a 1,5l bottle of water) and tap water is not drinkable. Better to make supplies before.
We heard also about free showers for drivers, maybe its possible to manage it for poor hitchhiker!

It took me 70 minutes to get a ride to La Manga, but two cars had stopped before offering me to drive me to a nearer village.

(I was going to La Manga) A policeman stopped and told me 1) It is forbidden to do hitchhiking; 2) There's a police station very near, so there are lots of policemen driving by (true); 3) He suggested me to go a little bit further, in order to avoid being seen by them ;)

Bad spot. Although there is a lot of trafic everyone stayed in Cartagena. Several people came up to us to tell that hitchhiking is not common in Spain and advised to take the bus. After 3 hours we gave in and this nice lady brought us to the train station. I think it's possible to find a ride to Murcia but we were too hungover to be persistent.
