Tried this spot last january, the only ride i got after a few hours of asking people was to the next gas station! Not recommended...but worth a shot if you have time, esp in the summer. good luck!―Bschramm27

It would be better to jump off at Getafe Industrial (see the map)―Anonymous

Getafe Industrial perfect station to reach this gasoline. From station to there you need 15-20 mins walk. don't be late because there is not much traffic. And cars usually don't drive long distance.Good luck!

You can get to this petrol station (repsol) by public transport+on foot. Get a cercanías (metropolitan train) from Atocha or a metro (around 2 euros), jump of at El Casar. Walk to the east for about 20 minutes.January 2011 they were building a new neigbourhood, but it was easy to jump the fence and cross without anybody saying anything.

Yes, there are not many people in the gas station, but there are some people around the restaurant and Burger King. And a far amount of people does go on longer distance rides, not so much local traffic anymore. In my experience the best service station in southern madrid (hitched this route 3 times now)―Laura13

Best to wait on the white striped median where the carpool lane begins. that way you'll call the attention of many more drivers because petrol station is not that busy. Waited 45 minutes, got ride to Murcia from trick driver who pulled over into emerging carpool lane.―Anonymous

We were 2 (girl and boy), the girl spoke spanish, so we asked the drivers. We headed to Cuenca. Our driver was third driver we asked and took us to Tarancón.―VincencBou

This station has a lot of local traffic, as it has a car wash and is close to a commercial area. It's best to ask drivers whether they go to Ocana (just a bit further south) and then get dropped at the petrol station in Sesena Nuevo.―Laura13

In february, I gave up after 4 hours without any ride. In 4 hours I saw only 2 cars going at least to the next gaz station on the highway, but both were full. It's probably better in the summer though.―Peyjo

Arrived at this spot around midday and was a little concerned as I expected more traffic, but we managed to get a lift to a petrol station 12km down the highway in about 20 mins.―Truffula

Although we were two women, we waited 2 hours (still OK for spanish standards, though) until we got a lift to the next service station. There is a lot of local traffic, so don't carry a sign to a faraway destination!―Laura13
