Most people are from the area, heading home. I feel like its best to tell them your hitchhiking and then asking them about the direction they going. Not the other way around.―Anonymous

Good location to catch southbound traffic, but not great for waiting as it is the entrance of the highway. It's still easy for cars to stop but I wasn't very comfortable with the location. A couple people stopped for us but we're not going very far. We had a sign that said "south", but when we changed it to "Stockholm", someone stopped immediately and could take us most of the way there.―Anonymous

As previously noted, not amazing but probably the best spot to go south. We asked around at the gas station for a little while with little success. Many people were just staying in the area or even going north. Eventually it's while standing by the roundabout that a car stopped for us, they were going straight to Stockholm.―Anonymous

Spent quite some time on the busstops before that, wasn't very actively asking around this rather quite gas station. Decent option from Uppsala to Västerås, with some truck drivers. Most traffik seemed to go north or towards Uppsala though. Guy who took me visited a friend and went back home with a small break here – legend for taking me ❤️―KRooijackers

Chaotic with multiple lanes, relatively high speed and quite some busses. Annoying spot to deal with, although could be used when traffik is more quiet or at a potentially better time of the day.―KRooijackers

Didn't spend the full five hours here, walked a little north and tried the busstop as well, but seemed too chaotic. Double lane and no clear direction made the busstop not ideal, so asking around it was. Mostly people going to their job or locals getting fuel, but after a while, someone actually went to Gälve ánd didn't mind taking me.―KRooijackers

Wasn't even asking around, older man just stopped as he noticed my flag and hitchhiked before. I kept my options – Umeå, Västerås and Uppsala – open, but couldn't reject this offer with my nearly dead battery and a place to stay in Uppsala too. Man used to be a hitchhiker, so he knew what it meant.―KRooijackers

This time there was a construction site along the road where the indicated spot is, so we moved ca. 100m towards Sveaplan and stood in between the traffic lights. A lot of traffic, and well visible spot, but people need to decide fast. We were in the middle of morning traffic but had to wait quite long to get lucky.―Anonymous

Lot of place for the car to stop, and they see you from far enough. the roundabout after is hardly accessible, and the last one is too dangerous... anyway, you can startcloser to the center, on the same road―Anonymous

This spot worked well in 2006, but I have the feeling I was lucky. Difficult to reach.http://hitchwiki.org/en/Uppsala

I agree that It's difficult, I was offered a ride to Gävle (north) after 40 minutes, before that only rides to STHLM.―Anonymous

Whatever you do, do NOT allow your driver to let you off here. This spot is senseless. No one even took the time to stop, even with a sign saying STH everyone looked at me as if I was an idiot. First time I had to give up hitchhiking and take a train.―Podz

I tried this place for direction north (southern exit was closed in summer 2010) and it was quite hard to get a lift somewhere else. I was stucked in Uppsala at this place fot the whole afternoon. It's also with no chance at the on-ramp to the highway.―Anonymous

Lot of space to stop the car, but it´s still before the road splits. Much safer though than the very entrance to the highway, if you´re heading north. (09.2014)―Ewelinalucy

Excellent place to get a lift to south direction. It took around 3-4 minutes. And in the meanwhile, I was even offered a ride to Gävle.―OCCASVS
