First we tried the gas station in the back, but it was dead. (Sunday evening) I think no one wants to tank in Switzerland when Germany is so close. Then we tried asking the police if we could stand at the border post, since the cars go so nice and slow. They told us no. Bastards. Anyway. Then we switched between asking people in the McD parking lot and flagging down cars from the highway to enter into the parking lot (seems very impossible but we didn't have much other options.) in the end the asking at the parking lot worked. During the day it's probably a lot easier, but it's not a nice place to be stuck at night. Also the McD closes at 22.

It seems like a good spot but I don't think there's a lot of long distance traffic, most cars going long distance are probably on the highway already. But getting a ride to the next German town should be very possible and from there it's probably easier.

We got approached by a really cool punk guy who came back from a pro Palestine protest and instantly started complaining about capitalism. That was great.

Not an ideal spot, you are visible and there is space to stop, but a lot of traffic and the cars go quite fast. I think many are from the surrounding villages going into Basel, getting on the highway was hard. But cars did stop, maybe every 15 minutes one car stopped and in the end someone brought us to the Baden Bahnhof on the other side of town close to the highway to France and Germany.

We walked down here from the Goetheaneum. Hitchhiking in this area has countryside vibes, felt very easy. I don't think the spot matters much as long as there's kind of a space to stop

Signed at the exit with a sign for Germany, and got a lift far into Germany by a Swiss guy in a GIANT Mercedes. (A lot of local Basel traffic)

Stood at the exit with a sign towards Basel, and people smiled. Ended up with a lift to a station just before Basel. Could have asked around and it would have been faster.

Heading towards Geneva with a sign. Got a ride with an Afghan man going to Geneva in 15 minutes standing at the exit. Lots of people going long distances and got a lot of smiles and waves. Would recommend to get out of Basel towards Geneva, Lausanne, Zurich etc.

Good spot in general. Free WiFi btw. I asked around to go to Germany. And after 20 minutes a German guy agreed to take me close to Freiburg.

I waited one minute and a VW bus stopped and took me close to Basel. Good spot. And always some traffic I guess, because there is a Shopping Center too.

Good spot at the border. There was only one lane open and therefore some space for cars to stop, idk if it’s like this all the time. I waited with a sign to Zürich. Many cars crossed the border and where passing me. After 15 minutes a guy approached me who had parked after the customs and asked where I needed to go. He then took me to "Pratteln Süd“, the first big rest area after Basel. I think if you wait long enough cars would also stop right after the border. 1 male

It’s a quite good spot. I waited on the on-ramp of the highway. Many cars coming, enough space to stop. In the first 10 minutes 3 or 4 cars stopped, but they didn’t went my direction. I wanted to go to Geneva/switzerland. In the end I got offered a ride to Mulhouse or be dropped off at a rest area towards Geneva. I took the ride to Mulhouse and the guy even drove me to Basel (bale) to the train station. I even met someone else hitchhiking there at the same time, so cool!

Easy to get a ride because the cars slow down for the roundabout. Easy to get to Basel/mulhouse, not far destinations.
