This is a very good spot I take all the time when I need to go from Boudry to la Chaux-de-Fonds or Biel/Bienne or further. Cars have a lot of space to stop and they don't come too fast :). We were once 4 with big bags and we travel toward Ticino !

Two backpackers got a ride to Zurich from here after 45 minutes wait.

I had to wait the whole night till i got a ride in the Chur direction. Should be much better for Zurich or Basel as most of the cars passing by headed there. If you get stuck, like i did, it's a good place to stay the night because it's Restaurant and Toilets are open 24 hours and theres many places to take a nap around the station.

Hard to get a lift to Chur, easy in direction Basel

It took us quite a long time for a ride to Chur. Better option is to go to Zurich from here. But the place is amazing for hitch-hiking as it's crowded with people going north!
Many cars we asked were actually full so have that in mind

A single female hitchhike had luck here and the first car that saw her picked her up until 25 KM from Milano, but that's no more then an avarge spot.

I stopped here thinking it would be a good place to get a ride north on the A13 on my way to Munich, but after 40mins of people saying they were going on the A2 towards Basel, I gave in and took a ride to 'Gunzgen Nord' to continue east towards Munich on the A1. This turned out to be a good stradegy (even though a fair detour) as i go a direct lift from there to Munich :)

Went there when holidays in germany ended: the station was extremely crowded (lots of people from germany). Waited approx. 40 min for a ride to Mannheim,DE.

A good chance for a long lift, german and swiss tourists passing, but also local traffic, go on the ramp where you'll find a large hard shoulder to stand and stop on.

Good spot to get rides north to Zurich, although many drivers were showing that they were going to the right, idk. Standed with a sign for more than an hour.

A random tip to get to Oberalp pass is to get a ride through the gotthard tunnel, get off in goschenen and then hitchhike your way up through andermatt.

The best spot to get a ride further south. At the very end of the tunnel is an (emergency) rest stop, which is pretty close to the roundabout. The cars slow down and often stack on this roundabout so ther have enough time to see you.

I believe this is the best place to stand, right after the curve and before the highway sign. Cars from both directions can see you. We showed a salzburg sign, but managed to get a best ride that I ever gotten. Swiss millionaire in a sports car taking us all the way to southern Switzerland! Probably very lucky, but still a good spot.
