Much better spot than the petrol station just down the road. Cars ARE moving faster but you get all the traffic that normally goes in the faster lanes that avoids the petrol station. I had a sign for Trabzon and got scooped up by a trucker almost immediately. He said heaps of trucks run from Samsun to Trabzon/Rize and back every day and this was the best spot for getting out of Samsun.
Idk worked for me
Thanks Baruk

I only had to wait 45 mins because there were police here doing random checks. The police were cool and took pictures with me and whatnot but I think they scared off people who would have stopped. After a bit a truck driver asked them if he could pick me up and i got a lift straight to Samsun (it did take 2 days as our truck only went 80kms/h and we lost breaks.)But hella good spot - use a sign
Also room for sleeping rough the back and lots of cardboard

I've been lucky to get a ride within 5 minutes for Giresun but honestly maybe it's better to go to the shell station at the beginning, it looks more dynamic and directly on the highway. This one is not directly on the highway and not to much traffic. Thanks Ogan―cavalierrustique

Not the worst spot but very not good. Lot of traffic but too much of it : cars can't stop. A guy on a bike stopped and was willing to take me but I broke my left arm and had two backpack so I refused. Just take the T4 further to Tekkeköy ;―cavalierrustique

Not a good spot but works. There are plenty of buses and minibuses stopping so you have to move out and in maybe. Cars go qutie fast because the traffic lights are as far as 100 metres before and the road is big.―Anonymous

This is a good spot for hitchiking from Samsun to go to western part of Turkey. To go here, take a tram and stop at university durak, and then walk a bit.―Anonymous

Get to the bus station for free with the service buses. Then walk under the highway on the road next to this spot, and just jump the barrier to the highway and hitchhike from there. There is space for a car to pull over just before the bridge―Anonymous
